Skylar Burch, LPC-A

"Do not set yourself aflame to keep others warm."

My name is Skylar, but feel free to call me Sky as it always brings a smile to my face. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, but my journey into the world of therapy began with receiving my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Clemson University, followed by a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University. Rather than healing the inner child of adults, I found my passion was in providing early intervention and guidance to children, adolescents, and their families. I find it to be a privilege for children to invite me into their complex young minds and that we get to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors together. I do not follow a one size fits all approach, and instead tailor my sessions to the unique goals and needs of each individual client that steps into my office. I incorporate a lot of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help my kiddos recognize and tweak unhelpful thought patterns. For my youngest clients, I use play therapy to create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for them to take the lead on opening up and working through their feelings. All of my clients are offered a listening ear and their own unique toolbox of resources that they can use to create lasting change.

Outside of the therapy room, you can find me spending time with friends, hanging out with my cat, Whiskey, and exploring hidden gems in the Upstate.
