Kancy Cleveland, LPC

Everyone is crazy. It is whether you control the crazy or the crazy controls you.

Kancy enjoys helping others through learning the newest therapy techniques. She works primarily with students who have issues in giftedness, reading issues, and special education and need help with building resilience or navigating life stressors. Kancy is also experienced in navigating and qualifying for special education and gifted programs in public schools.

She has received multiple certifications and trainings including SC Teaching Certification, SC School Counselor Certification, SC Administration Certification, Global Career Development Facilitator, Gifted and Talented Endorsement, Read to Succeed Endorsement, as well as being Reading Recovery Trained. After graduating with her Master’s at Clemson, she received her Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner Webb. She went on to work as Gifted Education Specialist for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6, a School Counselor for grades K4-6th, Reading Interventionist grades 4, 5, and 6, Reading Recovery for 1st graders, and seventh grade teacher of various subjects (ELA, Reading, Vocabulary Enrichment, Special Education, World Geography).

Outside of work, Kancy is also involved in her community, serving as President Elect of the Spartanburg ADK Honor Society and a trained Stephen Minister Leader. She formerly was a Board Member for the Spartanburg Reading Association and State Board Member for the Palmetto State Teachers Association.

In her spare time, she loves bargain shopping, reading, crafting, spending time with friends who are like family, beginning yoga, and trying new restaurants.
